Some of the pupils had the chance to dress up as characters from the Civil War Period.

Year 8

The English Civil War was brought to life when Steve Parish and Jo Ellis visited Year 8 at Greneway. They made the pupils realise how different life would have been in times of the English Civil War. When Steve fired his musket, the pupils appreciated how loud and smoky a battlefield would have been.

This way of learning was a great hit with the pupils.Adam declared, "I enjoyed the musket firing and the army routines. People were almost completely self sufficient and made their own gunpowder in the 1640's.

Year 7

Year 7 pupils were transported back to Medieval times when Jo Ellis and Steve Parish visited Greneway. The children handled lots of artefacts from the Middle Ages including cow horns, weapons, plates and candles.

Pupils studied recent History by learning about the life and times of John Lennon.

The pupils also get the chance to further their knowledge of The Tudors during their visit to York Cathedral.

Year 5
The pupils carried out extended research on an aspect of World War II.

They created models or completed projects.

The pupils also studied Ancient Egypt and visited Letchworth Museum so they could handle artefacts from the period.
